Hendrickson Unveils Optimized Air Disc Brake Slider System for Van and Refrigerated Trailer Market
ATLANTA, GA. (October 29, 2019) - Hendrickson is pleased to introduce a lightweight, maintenance-friendly air disc brake option designed to maximize brake component life while boasting a weight savings of thirty-three pounds per slider system – CHAMBER UP technology.
“Disc brakes comprise approximately 15% of the van and reefer markets in North America today. As fleets continue to make the investment in air disc brakes, they must carefully consider factors like maintenance intervals, component life and payload value in their ROI calculations,” says Omar Fernandez, direct of marketing for Hendrickson Trailer Commercial Vehicle Systems. “By marrying the exclusive features that come standard on ULTRAA-K® air slider systems with the CHAMBER UP option, fleets enjoy the ultimate in lightweight, low-maintenance operation,” added Fernandez.
CHAMBER UP locates the brake chamber – a critical component to any brake system’s operation – above the suspension trailing arm in a more protected location within the slider. The CHAMBER UP option provides up to 60% more ground clearance than standard designs, which helps minimize the likelihood of damage to the brake chamber due to road debris or other obstacles. Additionally, rotating the orientation of the disc brake system offers improved access to the brake pads and brake retaining hardware to help simplify maintenance when the system must be serviced.
Available exclusively on ULTRAA-K air slider systems that specify air disc brakes, the CHAMBER UP option saves 33 pounds over an ULTRAA-K with a standard ADB installation package and 133 pounds over other industry air sliders systems with standard ADB installation packages.
